Diana Orving is a young, extremely talented and self-taught designer so it is always exciting to see what she presents.
For autumn 2009, she has filled her collection with fantastic patterns and flowing silhouettes.
The feeling is exotic and elegant and I fall for the combinations with midnight blue garments and the fantastic gold prints.
To really experience the fluidity of the collection I recommend the show video.
About the collection:
The Cover collection is both armour and hideout. A strong silhouette with figurehugging tailoring contrasts draped pieces in jersey and silk, constructed for fluidity and freedom of movement. The front piece of a garment may seem fairly plain, whereas the back piece has something completely different to communicate. Delicate sheer silk is combined with a heavier weave of the same material to create an interesting mixture of transparency. Bold patterns designed in collaboration with graphic designer Johan Hjerpe have been significant influences on recent Orving collections. This time organic shaped metal mesh and mail armour are transferred onto silk and foiled on jersey. The colour palette includes shades of grey, black and white, combined with midnight blue, deep fuchsia and green. Accents are gold foil print and multi-coloured fabrics with an oriental touch.
