Some people paint. Others capture emotion in a photograph. A few use binary numbers to express themselves. Fashion is my form of creative expression. Whether it is feeling extra confident in one of my French cuff shirts for a big meeting, walking to the office in my 60 year old couture vintage coat or wearing my super sexy Swarovski studded Hollywould heels on a date because they make me feel like a princess, the label is no longer just a designer label, it becomes part of my spirit.
Since I shop at vintage and designer resale shops I am always finding fantastic and unique pieces to add to my wardrobe, which is best described as “eclectic”. From a voyeur’s perspective, you would find me difficult to shop for because my style is so varied. I have everything from Made to Measure French cuff shirts to classics pieces like a Chanel tweed jacket . The color palette is random, I love bright colors but predictably there is enough black to make a European blush. My favorite trendy items to that I like to rock - Jem and Holograms and “I love Ashton” t shirts.
My passionate labelloving ways even bleed into my daily nutritional diet. A well edited wardrobe doesn’t come cheap! Hence, the “cheese sandwich” diet was born. Every time I make a purchase, I force myself to eat cheese sandwiches for 6 weeks after. It’s a small price to pay for that gorgeous knit Prada skirt circa 1990s….
Does it make me a fashion snob because I don’t shop at the mall? Probably. Are shops like Chelsea Girl , Ina’s NYC and Designer Resale my brick and mortars of choice? For sure! Would you ever catch me shopping for overpriced, poorly made basics at Banana Republic? No. I am proud to be part of an evangelical fashion movement of labellovers.
