Jean Paul Gaultier Couture Spring 2009 collection is strutting his haunches down the runway to a different and exquisite new tune. What used to showcase feathers, abstract shapes, and ornamented designs has been stored away for a different day, unveiling a chic-er and more elegant disposition. Inspired by calligraphy and graceful strokes, the new collection features sweeping gowns and cathedral arches. Cocktail dresses fit for a more proper taste flow down the runway, gowns fit for the opera also in sync. WWD states " Jean Paul Gaultier is a master in creating a theme and connecting the dots, the result of the collection often beautiful." Audiences (WWD.com) can interpret the show's theme as a contrast and motif desiring to achieve good girl - bad girl glamour, a constant underlying theme in much of Gaultier's work.  It is always fabulous, fascinating, and an experience to witness designers in their vulnerable states of creativity, inspirations, creations and struggles to convey a consistent and particular image.
