My Sweet Blackberry

Blackberry 8310
Blackberry 8310

I didn't buy a Blackberry until the Blackberry Curve came out. Basically because, well, I didn't need one before then.

I don't actually "need" one now, but I sure do love it.

After I had my Curve for a little while, I was still looking around at other phones and gadgets, since it is a slight obsession of mine. And I actually did buy other random phones, from the motorola maxx v6 (which wasn't bad considering how much I loathed the original razr) and a samsung f700 (which I have written a previous 'must have it now' type of review on.) The f700 was fine. Slide out qwerty keyboard, reasonable (even though it's  not overly customisable) menu. Compared to a lot of 'todays' phone releases, the f700 does actually look like a bit of a brick, but it feels solid. I have to say, I still am not a fan of the touch screen. (Though, I would consider trying the HTC Touch Dual. But have no interest in other "it" phones like the iPhone...enough already!) As much as I tried, I just couldn't get used to the touch screen, even with "haptics" and I longed for a d-pad or at least a scroll ball like my good old Curve. However, motorolas Razr2 with the touch screen on the outside and the normal phone functionality on the inside is a somehwat appealing prospect, however, it's going a bit far with it's 'thin-ness' in my opinion! (I know, I have a lot of rather random things to say about a myriad of phones...)

And so, after having handed my original Curve down to my brother, I bought another Curve. The 8310 with built in gps. Slightly darker grey than the 8300, but still just as cute and easy to use.

I am a blackberry addict. It's true. And although I don't really utilise all of my blackberrys features, I am just as obsessed as those who do.

Since I'm that much of a geek, I have downloaded an irc client and I am constantly on there and it costs next to nothing and even with constant irc use during a whole 8 hour shift at work...I mean, use during a random day, the battery is still doing pretty well for itself.

I'm actually really impressed with all of the Blackberry Crves features and often sit there and wonder why I ever even considered another phone. I see random reviews complaining about picture or call quality, sound quality, keyboard quality, menu etc. But all in all, if I can't design my own phone right now, I am sticking with the blackberry curve. And no, I don't want to buy a Blackberry Bold either.

However, I don't know if it's the tween inside of me, but I am drawn to the hiptop (or Sidekick as it's called in the States.) However, I don't want to use the Slide because, well it looks a bit Mickey Mouse. And I wouldn't buy the hiptop 3 (Sidekick 3) either. The only one that actually appeals to me is the sidekick lx, which, apparently wont be available in Australia. So, there goes that idea.

The basic point of this pointless story is that, I am officially a Crackberry addict. I love a qwerty keyboard. I have no desire to even look at the iPhone. And I'm so over the idea of touch screens.
