I've been on the search for the perfect mirror-- one with an accurate reflection, not the faux-glass funhouse mirror that's currently torturing me. It turns out that the newest mirrors on the market do much more than show you to you!
CribCandy gives us a list of 13 new interactive mirrors. That's right, interactive!
My favorite is the Intelligent Mirror by Candy and Candy. The reflective surface is actually a plasma screen with a hidden camera. As you spin, hit pause several times. The images are captured and you can actually see what you look like from... gulp... behind.
Mirror Games by Geoff Muskett is a design that produces games like tic-tac-toe on the surface when the bathroom gets steamy. Fun for couples!
The most truly frightening of all these innovations is the Persuasive Mirror by Accenture. This is actually more of an installation, as tiny cameras are first installed throughout your home, recording your habits: time in the sun, late nights, food and alcohol consumed, and so forth. Based on these observations, the Persuasive Mirror projects an image of you in the future. Healthier weeks produce more positive images. Yikes!
Come to think of it, maybe I'll stick with my cheapo mirror. It may make me look slightly unproportional, but at least it doesn't judge me.
