Long Live the King!11/30/2007 12:13 PM | Where does one look these days for a glimmer of hope that the heart and soul of absolute creation is still alive? Today, young designers and artists can so easily be caught up in the hoopla of fashion's irreverant snobbery, the allure of a fast buck and sellouts in lou of orginal and pure creations. In a world of robotic mass production fortunately, a true master of our time still reigns. He is a man who has the ability to bring worlds of elegant grandeur and wild fantasy to life. On a stage where he has not only built the scene and chosen the players he also embellishes everyone with head to toe romanticism. As they dance his vision and bring his minds paintings to life, any and all fortunate enough to wittness John Galliano's creations are surely reminded of what it truely means to be an artist. In his most recent production he showcased a deleriously happy spring 2008 collection on his beach carnival boardwalk. As if taking Andy Warhol on holiday to Coney Island, John Galliano playfully covered boardwalk with short tiered and flouncy dresses in pinks and florals. He topped them with picture hats, bows, feathers, finger waves and candy curls. Galliano snuck in a few reinterpretations of soft and sexy forties suits, but as always raising the bar on classic motifs. Coming out at the end in true form, he looked like a young boy who had torn through a day at the carnival fueled by a playful glory. What is so wonderfully inspiring about this man is that he is able to balance commercial business with that of his eccentric mind and creative soul. Galliano has taken what he was born with to build his world around him. He has created a place filled with other gifted people to support his preeminent visions and made reality of an artist's dream. John Galliano is the quintessential example of how to focus ambition and raw talent to devise a creative empire. Long live the king!
