Project Runway drama continues
Project Runway drama continues

Just in case you missed the recent drama going on between Tim Gunn and Victorya Hong, here is a taste:

Tim Gunn's interview from yesterday's Chicago Tribune:

“Victorya was sourpuss, a crabby apple as I keep saying, throughout almost all the show, other than Days 1, 2 and 3. She became this sour pill. Rich Bye, one of the executive producers, and I had two off camera interventions with her. I said to her, ‘You know what makes me beside myself is the fact that there are thousands of designers who would love to be in your place. What’s the matter with you?’

“She said, ‘I never dreamed the experience of being on the show would be like this.’ We said, ‘What do you mean?’ ‘I never dreamed we’d only have a day for challenges, that we wouldn’t have any breaks.’ ‘But you said you saw the show.’ She said, ‘I assumed it was cheated.’ I said, ‘Then you only have your own delusions to blame.’ She was really angry and bitter.

There are more jaw-dropping stories about what Victorya  made Tim do in Mood Fabrics and her reaction to Jack’s departure

The most interesting thing is that Victorya chose to respond to that interview in an open letter posted on BloggingProjectRunway today, so here is more drama:

I have to say that to respond to Tim's comments at all was a big dilemma for me. But your invitation to get my version out there was just too tempting, and I feel like I've been placed squarely in a position where I have no option but to do so. And let me tell you, it's hard to step into the ring with someone whose public persona is so liked, even when he's holding open those ropes. But it seems as if Tim initiates these verbal sparring battles with designers from past seasons, when it should all be over for us and we'retrying to make the best of the show. For all that he has said, that he wishes us well, that he really cares about us...hey, I've always thought that your deeds and work speak for themselves, beyond any words.

It's no secret that it's been extremely hard for me to take any of Tim's advice to heart, chiefly because I don't think he is qualified to give it. Tim was, for many years, the dean of Parsons, which is a fancy word for administrator. Does that automatically give him the credentials to assume the role of an arbiter of fashion? I can see how he might be capable of teaching say, fashion history, but design?

Victorya must be brave to burn the bridges, Tim is still more likable than her and her letter just proves his point!

It looks like there is more drama after the show than it was in the entire season!!

Victorya seems to have lots of emotional baggage from the show... she needs to let it go and focus on her work
