Fur Accessories PETA Could Love
Fur Accessories PETA Could Lov...
After we bought our first house, my husband and I wanted to get a dog. We both grew up with beagles so I figured that’s what we’d get. Kevin looked at a few but he couldn’t find the right one. Then one night I came home from work and he showed me a picture of some Siberian Husky puppies on a rescue website. They were adorable but I wasn’t interested.

“I thought we were getting beagles,” I said.

“Huskies are really cool. I printed some articles for you to read,” he said. “We need to get two of them. They are pack animals and they need companionship.”

I read the articles and I was not interested. Huskies are stubborn. They are big. They need lots of exercise and they shed. Instead of one small, short-haired dog we were now looking at two large fur balls.

I called my sister. “Kevin wants to adopt a pair of Siberian Huskies,” I told her.

“I’m a cat person” she said. “Get a cat.”

“You’re not helping. I’m a dog person. But Huskies? No thanks.”

“Do it,” she said.

“I thought you were a cat person?”

“Get the Huskies or talk him into Dalmations,” she insisted.

“They’re totally different breeds,” I said. “They have completely different personalities.”

“Who cares?” she said. “It’s not about how they behave. It’s about how they look. Huskies are beautiful. And Dalmations go with everything. Think how stylish you’ll look walking them while wearing bright red lipstick and a cool coat.”

I was sold.

We adopted Tolstoy and Prada and suddenly my wardrobe needed an upgrade. I never spent much money on casual clothes, never mind workout clothes. The few times I did exercise, I wore a pair of leggings and one of Kevin’s t-shirts. But now I was walking the dogs every day and I needed a whole new look.

My dogs get a lot of attention. Just the other morning while we were out for our walk, a woman yelled out her second floor window.

“Excuse me,” she said. “I just had to tell you those are the most beautiful dogs I’ve ever seen.”

A few minutes later I heard a car horn beeping. I turned my head.

“How much for the dogs?” the driver asked as he rolled down the window.

“They’re not for sale.”

“I’ll pay anything,” he said. “They’re gorgeous.”

My sister was right. My Huskies are the ultimate accessory. They look great with Gorsuch, Juicy Couture and Lululemon. Fur is back in style
