FOOT SOAK?!
Yes. I know you don't have time. So do it when you can. Demand the time for yourself. Get a basin big enough for 2 feet. Get your favorite lotion and a towel or two towels. Get 1 bag of peppermint tea. Claim a place where you can do this and afterwards put up your feet. Add COLD, medium, or HOT water to the basin. Insert tea bag (no need to make tea first). Insert feet in the basin. Soak feet for 10 minutes or more. (It's easier than doing your nails or reading the evening paper) Near the end of the soak scrub feet with brush, loofa, or nylon scrub. Insert feet to rinse for one minute. remove feet, pat dry, add lotion, and rest them on couch or any place you can relax for 5-10 minutes. (Not enough time? Skip the last part.)
Benefits: detox, better circulation, relaxation of body and muscles, rejuvenation of energy is an easy going way so you can enjoy your evening. Look up peppermint in herb books and see other benefits too. Oh yeah aching pain in your feet often disappears! Try it, my friends always thank me when they see how good they feel.
Weather Meditation:
Long, long ago, as a recent college graduate, I was a counselor. Counseeling can b e pretty draining, and sometimes one needs to refresh the mind and clear the cobwebs from the head. I also loved what I did and worked a lot. I needed a way to meditate quickly and renew, and I needed some easy tools for my clients. My first choice was weather meditation. A 30 second fix. (longer is better).
Get to a window, a flower on the desk, outside. Watch the weather. Breathe. See changes. Repeat often. You make notes of what you experience and how you feel. Hint: complaining, dragging up negative comments, counting negative points, being cynical, won't move you toward nivrana. Watch. Breathe. See how you feel.
Note: If you are cynical by nature, at least amke a few good jokes.
