In many ancient traditions, women were the caretakers of Gaiai, the mother earth. IF we stop and rest awhile, you may recall what these rituals entailed. You may know the vibrations of the tides and moon and how they call you to come under darkened skies to dance and release your monthly cycle.
Perhaps as you plant in richly nutured soil your whole body connects with the rhythms of earth. We were the first farmers. We taught the way of healing plants. We discovered the powerful bonding of giving birth and caring for the old.
Flying in the air (with or without broomstick or plane) now is not in vogue, but could be a cost saving tool. Few mainstream women know the power of ritual or a woman's circle. Many would not have time for these deeper explorations.
Even Christian women may barely have time for a woman's retreat, let alone imagine the feeling of planting corn by the light of the moon. How long has it been since you stood barefoot on the ground and feel the surge of earth pulsate and burst from your hands toward the sky?
I was musing about the importance of balance in our lives. Make a list of 50 ways to reclaim your power. What did your grandmother teach you? Your mother? The echoes beyond the yard calling and waiting for your reply.
We all have multiple spiritual journeys, and perhaps paths. Just as Mother Mary had to travel far from home, often through the night, for the census and to give to the Christ child, we too have our spiritual callings. Remember too how Mary had to quickly change plans and exit again to save her newborn son. Some say she ended up in Egypt, ahieeh, such culture shock. And then back again. Sound familiar?
