I can smell the Oscar season already. As always, the best movies are kept for the fall, so get ready for some good action and laughs. These are my 10 picks to look forward to:
1.THE KINGDOM - I would just mention Jamie Foxx and Jennifer Garner as FBI agents, that should be enough, no?
2. THE DARJEELING LIMITED - will be interesting to see Owen Wilson playing someone who attempted suicide. A little freaky, but should be a great comedy
3. MICHAEL CLAYTON - George Clooney's Oscar hope
4. RENDITION - the thriller that brought together Reese Witherspoon and Jake Gyllenhaal (in real life too). sounds like a good movie.
5. AMERICAN GANGSTER - a drama with Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe sounds promising
6. LIONS FOR LAMBS - Tom Cruise and Meryl Streep directed by Robert Redford. a must see.
7. NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN - from Coen brothers. I have high expectations for this one
8. I'M NOT THERE - Bob Dylan portrayed by Christian Bale, Richard Gere, Cate Blanchett (!) and other actors. sounds like a great concept, not sure how it's gonna work.
9. THE ASSASSINATION OF JESSE JAMES BY THE COWARD ROBERT FORD - Brad Pitt supposedly in his best role yet.
10. DAN IN REAL LIFE - another chance I'm giving to Steve Carell to duplicate "40 y/old virgin success"
This should be a great season for movie theaters. All great actors, great directors and great stories. Lets see who makes it to the Oscar.
