David Bach, the financial advice expert, isn't called "The Money Guru" for nothing. He has written a book on how to save money by going green, called, "Go Green, Live Rich." I found some of his tips common practices that we all must have applied at some point in our lives...but, according to David Bach, we can do more:
1. According to David Bach, a reportedly 90% of plastic bottles are not being recycled. He suggests that we stop buying bottled water and buy a filter that we can apply onto our faucets at home and basically save up to $500.00 a year.
2. Get rid of junk mail! We're encouraged to research/write to those companies sending out annoying catalouges and magazines to stop with the junk...
3.This might hurt, but, get rid of the third, or, second car and save more than $2000.00 a year. Think, gas prices!
4. Stop eating out. The expert tells us to bring our lunch to work and use recyclable products. I practice carrying my lunch to work on a daily basis, but, on occasion order out as well, leaving the packed lunch , well, packed.
5. Buy in Bulk.
6. Buy Green Cleaning Supplies.
7. Plant trees and shrubbery around your house.
8.Skip unneccessary road trips...No problem there, only vacation once a year.
9.Green your nest egg...as your monies in socially conscious green companies and communities.
I've listened to a few investment experts over the years and my philosophy is to take what you can use out of it and store the rest for safe keeping...
